What Barhayee means

An Urdu word with craft at its center.

Barhayee is the Urdu word for woodworker, carrying Pakistani roots and a direct respect for the craft itself.

The work draws from that inheritance while shaping quieter pieces for contemporary homes.

Process

Woodworking is a conversation between an idea and the material.

01

The Spark

Every piece starts with an intention rather than a strict plan. I may have a vision of the final result, but rarely a complete roadmap. The journey begins by selecting wood whose grain, color, and character inspire the direction of the piece.

02

The Journey

Unlike factory production, every project involves discovery. As the wood is cut, shaped, and assembled, new possibilities emerge. Sometimes the original idea changes entirely. The wood often leads the way, and I follow where it wants to go.

03

The Reveal

The most rewarding moment comes near the end. After hours of shaping, refining, and countless small decisions, the finish is applied and the character of the wood comes alive. What began as rough lumber becomes something beautiful, useful, and uniquely its own. Even after all these years, that moment still warms my heart.

Custom Work

For custom boards, serving pieces, and small-batch wooden objects, start a conversation.

A limited number of custom commissions are taken on each season, with attention to proportion, timber choice, and the way a piece will be used in daily life.
